Under the supervision of the Head of Programmes, the Area Manager is responsible for providing overall supervision and cordination in the field, specifically focusing on representation, human resources, logistic, finance, resource mobilization, security management, and internal control for all project activities in line with HI- TUK sector’s programme strategy.

S/he will be responsible for

1. Representation of HI at field level

  • Represent HI at field level and maintain a positive image of the organization
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with local officials, government bodies and international agencies

2.Participating in the strategic development of the projects and pilot their implementation at field level

  • Monitor the needs, context and overall situation in the field and make sure that needs and gaps are regularly assessed by the project teams
  • Spearhead development at the field level through stakeholder analysis, achievements/gaps/strengths analysis, participatory process (beneficiary, partners and staff) to define priorities.

3. Resource mobilization at field level and coordination of compound partnerships

4. Coordinating projects implementation

· Coordinate and supervise the implementation of the activities and make sure they are implemented according to HI and the donors requirement, timely and in the best interest of the targeted beneficiaries

· Review all projects reports(monthly, quarterly and end project) to ensure the quality and timely submission

5. Planning the financial strategy of the field and ensure its implementation

  • Elaborate the annual support cost budget and follow up its implementation after validation
  • Validate the cash requests of Kakuma projects

6. Management and supervison of staff under its line management

  1. Security management in close collaboration with the HOP and the Programme Director for assets and human resources. The Area Manager will be the main focus for HI safety and security in the Field

  2. Represent HI in local security meetings with local authorities, other members of the international and national humanitarian community in cooperation with the HOP and the Programme Director .

  3. Implement HI’s security plans, local security rules and procedures

8. Respect of HI identity, rules and policies

Qualifications and skills required:



  • At least a Bachelor degree in Social Sciences or management discipline or its equivalent


  • At least 5 years practical experience project / programme management

NB: – The basic salary range for this position is Kshs. 137,024 to Kshs. 201,225 per month (excluding other allowances) depending on the candidate’s experience and education.
