Action Africa Help International (AAH-I) is a regional African-led non-governmental organisation that supports livelihood-challenged communities in East and Southern Africa to sustainably improve their well-being and standard of living. With Country Programmes in South Sudan, Kenya, Somalia, Uganda, Zambia and recently in Djibouti, AAH-I has over 25 years’ experience working with communities in conflict and post-conflict situations, including refugees, internally displaced people and host communities. More recently AAH-I has expanded its activities to work with other marginalised communities, including pastoralists and people living in informal urban settlements.

Staff reporting to this post: Mechanic/Mechanic Welder; Auto Mechanic (plant); Workshop Storekeeper; Auto Electrician; Auto Electrician (Plant); Panel beater/spray painting technician
Liaises with: Warehouse Officer; Logistics & Procurement Officer
Duty Station: Kakuma, Kenya
The Workshop Officer will be responsible for managing the Workshop Staff and facilities and ensuring that safety is always observed and workshop well secured. S/he will establish appropriate set-up and budget to deliver an efficient repair and maintenance service. Establish and list vehicle assessment/diagnosis reports and make technical recommendations. The role is responsible for scheduling the maintenance of partner’s generators and ensuring that the repairs carried out meet standard requirements.
Degree in mechanical engineering/Higher National Diploma in mechanical engineering with more than 10 years of experience or its equivalent.
Relevant training in administration/asset management and supplies
Minimum 5 years work experience in a comparable position preferably with an INGO.
Skills and competencies
Business oriented and analytical thinker.
Experience in Automotive engineering/Logistics management
Experience in spare parts management
Ability to take initiative and work independently
Good organisational and team skills.
Very good working knowledge of ICT technologies (ERP software, email, internet and computer applications)
INGO experience and understanding of humanitarian sector- an added advantage.
